My name is Justin Hook. I'm a writer in Los Angeles, originally from Michigan.
Work:
I'm currently the assistant to Budd Friedman, owner and founder of the Improv comedy clubs.
In the past, I've worked for Nickelodeon Animation Studio, the Tom Lynch Company, Harvard Business School, Boston University's Office of New Media, author and critic Ray Carney, YMCA Camp Hayo-Went-Ha, and, for less than an hour, Meijer's.
Education:
Boston University
BS - Film & Television, BA - American & New England Studies
A comic essay I wrote entitled "Ethical Dilemmas Involving Klondike Bars" was recently featured on the McSweeney's website. You can view it here.
I wrote an Internet webseries entitled Microwave Tinfoil.
I wrote a humor column for The Daily Free Press, all of which are currently viewable online:
I served as the head writer for BU Tonight, a late-night comedy talk show at Boston University.
I wrote anonymously for a snarky newsblog at TheU.com as 'Captain Walker.'
Microwave Tinfoil is a comedy web series created by myself and developed with Michael Ponterotto, produced entirely by BU College of Communication students. During 2007 and 2008, we produced 5 episodes, averaging about 4 minutes in length. I write and act in each episode.
BU Tonight is the late-night comedy talk show of Boston University. It is produced entirely by a team of approximately 40 students, mostly from the College of Communication. I began as a writer in 2005, became Head Writer in 2007, and served as Executive Producer in 2008.
When I am desperately unemployed, I work as a web designer, making use of modern, standards-compliant code. I am proficient in (x)HTML, CSS, Javascript (including sIFR, jQuery, script.aculo.us, etc.), Dreamweaver, and have experience with PHP, Flash, and CMS systems.
I am on several social networking sites. Find me, why don't you?
